@davidsirota fwiw in my field (academia) it was the gen x'ers pulling up the ladder moreso than the boomers ... But overall I think what you're speaking to is correct

@cstross Don't forget effective birth control. Without it, the next generation after them would have had a comparble population size, with just as high a prevalence of unplanned kids. With it, the whole intergenerational dynamic shifted.
