Does...does Wine just implement the things dwm.exe needs to use, including the "let it do compositing of other apps' windows" stuff, so it all just Works??
@49016 makes me want to get Windows 7 somehow and play around
maybe we should buy a disc assuming those are a thing
*looks up discs* oof $40 is a bit expensive
(also huh a lot of these are OEM discs. And the OEM discs are cheaper. I wonder if those would work.)

also, to prove that yes, gnome really manages these windows: here's paperwm, the scrolling wm gnome extension, running on windows 7 (albeit really slow because starting paperwm completely jams the x11 tunnel for some reason lmao)
fixed a bunch of issues that made this extremely laggy and, uh, this just kinda works now
the entire "making a tiling window manager out of a desktop environment" is already cursed on linux, it gets really cursed when it goes paperwm -> gnome -> windows 7 dwm
this is surprisingly usable though

@49016 this is such a beautiful monstrosity it brings a tear to my eye. And the fact this is done through X11 forwarding instead of being a theme (like i thought at first) is even better, bravo

Before, you were seeing the same topics (more or less, I think the logic changed a little bit) but in a "topic list" style — like you were navigating into just another category.
While that worked fine, the vast majority of content was microblog content that did not come with a title, so one needed to be generated.
A topic listing with many many long titles (some of which don't function well as titles) does not a good topic list make 🙂

@mntmn @cwebber management types have wanted this since the 1950s. it’s why COBOL and SQL exist; it’s why RAD exists. It’s why so called “4th Generation Languages” exist. Management would like nothing more to be done with needing to think about all those pesky details like “that’s a logical impossibility” or “that’s P=NP”, they want their word to be the word of god
