Sometimes, people on Facebook don't know the Fediverse exists.

@MissWarcraft Where is this data from?
https://fedidb.com shows a bit over 1 million active accounts across all of the fediverse.
-
@MissWarcraft Ah, okay, it's referencing old data from https://mastodon-analytics.com/.
Thank you!

The European Commission likes to tell them. đ đAt least one person wanted to know. ;)

@hpod16 'Eu-citizen-only" ? <_<
@darkoneko the social media manager in question may have read over that partâŚ.
-
@hpod16 the problem is that the same people that don't know will run into lots of UX issues when trying Fediverse. I know a few sadly...

@hpod16 Being locked into a Server is why I do not post often, I don't see what people in Europe really think. But on X I do. It is a true hodge podge of posts from around the globe. I try to stick to Warcraft, animal and science stuff. Very little of that here. On Mastodon they just post Hate Trump Hate America. Why would I want to see that all day.
@MissWarcraft @hpod16 if you want to see what I think, all you need to do is follow me. You are not locked into a server unless you chose to

Sometimes, people on Facebook don't know the Fediverse exists.
The European Commission likes to tell them. đ đ@hpod16 was the fediverse created in europe? it's insane to say this when the technology itself is being mantained and expanded by people all around the world, including americans, asians, south americans, africans, etc.

@szkodnix any opportunity to promote Fedi
(Although on second reading I admit that could have been better phrased, they are asking for an EU-only platform and Fedi is global...) -

I see science and humor because of my hashtag follows.
Also fuck trump but that's kind of a worldwide trend these days

@lucien
I know, I know...
When I first started (a week ago), I struggled with understanding the federated nature.
But I just put out a post to ask questions, and people explained things to me, and I was amazed with the awesome community out here! -

The European Commission likes to tell them. đ đ@hpod16 BTW, a âcitizen-onlyâ network developed and controlled by a state actor sounds pretty dystopian to me. Yet people are actively advocating for it âŚ

@moftasa
Yeah, what the Commission answered here isn't quite what they asked.
But with a generous reading, still an opportunity to promote the Fediverse.I read it like the person who asked wanted a silo while the EU Commission social media people answered with the actually open alternative. Like even if there were Fedi servers that allow only people verified to be EU citizens (or residents), one could still interact with all the world across servers.
