@elena You're in? Which self-hosting provider? Hostinger? Contabo? Others? I'm planning to cut off NowTV Cinema to invest on self host. Then, my main doubt is on storing audio files. I have a castopod instance in mind as well.
@elettrona I'm using Hetzner for this second YunoHost installation... I'm a little afraid of costs and I need to see if they will exceed the 4โฌ/month I set. With Hostinger I didn't have that problem...

@elettrona @elena i haven't used castopod but looking at the documentation just about any hosting provider will work, vps or shared. the only thing you really need to pay attention to is the disk space you get and your traffic allowance
@mensrea @elettrona I have never done a podcast (but plan to this year) and my biggest recommendation as a filmmaker is to focus on great audio compression... so that file sizes stay manageable (I do the same with my videos)

@d1re_w0lf the error logs show that essential packages are missing... so strange. Had the same failure with Matomo but now I need to have lunch with the fam... will try again later or Monday at the latest

The last commit for Monica is really this old. That's why I never installed it.
There is a beta called Chandler https://beta.monicahq.com, but it is in Beta for at least two years. -

My first #MySoCalledSudoLife action of 2026 will be to install Monica โ a #FOSS personal CRM system to keep track of friends and family (birthdays, anniversaries, last contact etc.) โ on my server.

I'm shuddering thinking about how much money I spent in my life on closed, proprietary products. Like, back in 2017-2018 I paid 159 dollars A YEAR for a similar tool... now on my little server for 4 Euros a month I can host Monica, Matomo and other useful software.
I hope this is the year that self-hosting grows in popularity.

And the company is definitely offering a hosted solution - to this day...

The latest Monica release is 4.1.2 from May 2024. This is the 4.x branch https://github.com/monicahq/monica/tree/4.x
That's the 2 years.I would be happy to see more updates to Monica/Chandler, but is has been very quiet after the announcment of the Beta. The last blog post from 2023 is about it https://www.monicahq.com/blog

@jd @d1re_w0lf ah thank you for the clarifications - now I understand what you mean. I used to have a similar DIY system in Notion but I want to move away from it since itโs not FOSS. Now Iโm reconsidering Monica. Thank you for the insights ๐

Ho riesumato un Lenovo che usavo prima di questo Asus. Gli ho messo il disco ssd, salvato quel che mi serviva tenere e poi formattato. Su questo ho fatto una nuova installazione Debian che perรฒ ha qualche carenza. Tipo che il wifi si collega alla rete, ma non a internet. Oggi indago meglio.
