However, it wasn’t Sun’s first x86 operating system. In the late 1980s, Sun sold 386i workstations based on Intel 386 processors. Il Modello I archivia 20.000 caratteri (590.000$), il II e III rispettivamente 40.000 e 80.000. Moltiplica due numeri da 10 cifre in 0,0024 s. 17 settembre 1971#accaddeoggiLa RCA esce dal mercato dei computer dopo perdite per 490 milioni di dollari, chiudendo la divisione RCA-CSD. Faceva parte dei “Sette Nani” (Honeywell, Univac, Burroughs, NCR, GE e CDC) che tentarono invano di sfidare IBM. Lo Spectra 70/45, rivale del System/360, non riuscì a garantire piena compatibilità software. IBM restò dominante e i Nani sparirono dal mainframe.#retrocomputing #retrocomputer #retroinformatica
