Doom is as much a grift as boom
People love to talk about bubbles. It’s addictive—there’s a certain thrill in believing you see what others can’t. But what most don’t realize is that doom can be just as profitable for grifters as boom.
When markets rise, the hype merchants sell “the next big thing.” When markets wobble, a different breed sells fear: crash predictions, gold ads, bear newsletters, and “once-in-a-lifetime” survival trades. Both depend on emotion—just opposite kinds.
Boom grifters profit from greed. Doom grifters profit from fear. They both need attention, both demand urgency, and both pretend to know the future.
Don't be chasing either story. Instead focus on probabilities—not prophecy. Because whether it’s euphoria or panic, anyone selling certainty is probably selling you.

I think that even if you unfollow, the messages would arrive anyway: the purpose of this snac behavior is to give greater visibility to small instances, because in theory, it was originally created precisely for small personal instances or those with few users. Nowadays, some people complain that when they try to follow their own city, their own instance shows the user but often without posts, and it seems to them that it's not working. Not on all software, but, at least, in this way some benefit, and in general, the feedback has been positive. I'm afraid that turning it off might greatly limit the project's visibility. The use of unlisted for updates - a very useful suggestion - is precisely to avoid noise on public timelines.
