Confirmed: the Wrench Guy could not fix it. They are trying something else for 20-30 mins and then I’m likely looking at deplaning and the complete annihilation of any spirit I had left in me.
Something about the loss of daylight, each minute ticking by. End of shift is nigh. They are trying to come up with plan, for a plan, a magic trick to make it look like they're doing stuff, but are in fact not going to make good on this scheduled flight. It's not the weather.
It's the airline.

The end of this EMT textbook chapter is about how to recognize when someone is sooooo dead, you don’t have to try to resuscitate them. They actually say that we should not do cpr on a decapitated patient. I have concern for students who needed to read that in a textbook.
Sorry if this is too graphic for a cute travel thread. But I’m like one step away from being a main character on The Pitt so it’s to be expected.

The woman next to me is dressed the way anyone in a Boston blizzard dresses when they’re about to get on a plane to Minneapolis.
@actualham But the "Blizzard" was in BOS. She is flying TO MSP, where the weather is just above freezing w/ bright orb in the sky. When that happens in here in Mich in Feb, it's called "time for shorts, it warmed up". They do that in MN too.

Oh lovelies! I had such a wonderful visit to the world of the golden gophers at my new university in Minnesota! But all good things must end so here I am at the Minneapolis airport ready to fly to Boston and we’re kicking it off with a special treat from Delta: a 3-hour delay! I’ve already done a 1 hour car ride, and we still have the flight, the 2 hour bus, and the final 1 hour car ride home. You know what this means? LIKE A GOPHER IN YOUR GARDEN THAT YOU CANT KILL THIS TRAVEL THREAD IS GOING TO CONTINUE TO EAT YOUR TIME

@holsta @eniko I love make too! Especially how GNU make is different from BSD make is different from NMAKE!
Jokes aside, I really like make and try to make my Makefiles as cross-compatible as possible, although with nmake it's absolutely impossible beyond the basics.

@yosh @eniko That's a helpful taxonomy, yeah. I'm guessing that by thr same logic, autoconf and friends are meta–build systems? I'm also curious where task runners like just or do-runner (my own attempt) fit into the picture — basically tools for keeping collections of tiny shell scripts.
I ask because make is a weird one to me in that it's both a build system and a task runner (thanks to .PHONY).

- cmake is a meta-build system: it builds your build systemWhich might seem confusing until you realize that build systems and compiler toolchains are often tied to specific operating systems. If you want to build portable code it helps to have something to abstract over them.
