Short video is a creative medium. The problem arises when platforms prioritize 'time on screen' over human well-being.
That's when we get outrage and doomscrolling.
Loops offers a different path: A healthy, community-owned space where you control the experience.
Open source, federated, and ethical.

@eyeinthesky @maikel You're right about that. Add in the lack of tools for building and testing ActivityPub, JSON-LD baggage, and HTTP signatures insanity, and it's amazing that anything gets built at all :)
Fortunately, it looks like some real progress is being made, so hopefully 2026, 2027, and 2028 will bring the community together with better tools and specs, and give devs (even the big one) good reasons to improve compatability.

@osma@mas.to No negativity at all. In my post I pointed out that while I don't agree with their approaches I don't think mine is right either.
In fact, it was Maikel who called other projects "smoke and mirrors".

TBF it was not clear to me either why you chose to reply the way you did, @julian. I think we can do with a little less negativity about other people's efforts, even if they're not what you'd personally choose to do.
