@marcoarment up, and whilst not a huge for a year, it's not something I can say I support - as it seems to be only targeting their family plans (we didn't get an email for our team account for @bloominbeads)
They're VC funded now, not some tiny indie dev anymore. Honestly, I'm disappointed, plus the 'AI naming' thing.

@marcoarment you're getting free updates!
To your cost...

@marcoarment A price increase of almost 40% is a hefty “update”. In the German version of that email they used “we are changing the costs of your subscription”.

@marcoarment ha! That’s even worse than the non-ownership version of “the price is changing”

@marcoarment gotta get the money to advertise in F1 from somewhere.

@abdelkader_boui @marcoarment Wow 40% price increase??!! Time to plan a move to proton pass.

@abdelkader_boui @marcoarment it should’ve been „we are altering the deal, pray we don’t alter it any further”.

@rjj @marcoarment yeah, it decided to change itself all by itself. And coincidentally it was an increase.

@marcoarment People are reporting a 20% increase. Seems dumb.

@marcoarment 34%, they missed the chance to call it a major update 😄

@marcoarment You’re lucky.
Bitwarden increased the price by 100%!
From 10 to 20.
A year. -

@marcoarment Also..look at all the things you probably don’t use that we want you to pay for. But things like making the app open reliably? Naaaah.

@marcoarment Time to start paying the sweet, sweet VCs. <long digital sigh>

@marcoarment I implore you to use this language if you ever feel the need to discount Overcast.

@marcoarment if you decide you can make the switch to Apple passwords (I did last year and it works work on windows/iCloud if that’s a concern)
I found there is some massaging required in the export process to have a clean mostly lossless import. IIRC mostly around quoting and escaping fields in CSV and column names -

@marcoarment I'm old enough to remember when 1Password prided themselves on being local-only and not a subscription service... Oh have times (VC money) have changed.

@SamuraiSakura @abdelkader_boui @marcoarment I don't know where 40% came from? Let's not spread mistruth.
Mine's going from AU$59.88 to $71.88. It's 20%. Not great but I just checked my invoice history and it hasn't increased since 2020. That's _under_ inflation per the RBA. $73.56 would have matched inflation.
(I don't love the price rise, to be clear. But it's hardly usurious. Prices go up. What you gonna do.)
