@DrALJONES We have to either win or take down civilization entirely, the middle options are unconscionable horror. Just the absolute worst dystopian visions humans have come up with, in addition to the absolute worst dystopian things humans have already done.

Well, two things:
* The fascists are in the process of destroying whatever was ever "good" about western so-called "civilisation";
* From the very beginning, ~6000 years ago, that so-called "civilisation" was built on power-driven racism, slavery, classism, sexism, ableism... you name all the unnecessary & destructive "isms" we're still suffering from.
"Civilisation" is already dying from its own depravity.

By now we have undeniable evidence of years of persecution of those with less power in the communities (demonstrators, immigrants, etc.)....

@DrALJONES Agreed, but I kinda mean permanently, and not just western civilization. Either we have to make civilisation something worth living in, or humans need to go away.

Prior to the city state (roughly equated to "civilisation"), humans lived in relatively egalitarian groups, eg, Catalhoyuk (https://www.catalhoyuk.com/site).
Imo, ditch the widely discredited notion, "civilisation", & aspire toward egalitarian communities of all kinds.

@DrALJONES Oh, I definitely take a broader view of civilization than just city- or nation-states. I'd consider neolithic communities to be civilization. Even most nomadic hunter-gatherer tribes would probably qualify.

@DrALJONES Who has a non-VISA non-Mastercard payment card?
Or a card that uses a payment system not based in the US?
There is the Wero payment system in Europe but that is a smartphone only payment system.
So I am stuck with VISA or Mastercard companies that can be forced by the current US regime to block my access to those services.
In the same way that Albenese's access to payment systems has been denied.
How do you pay for food when your cards have been cancelled?

@DrALJONES the first 3 are already shown when Trump commits piracy in Venezuela and then kidnaps their president. Arguably even before. We're way beyond the 'presaged' stage. It's strange how some people don't notice the tentacles of #colonialism until they specifically start choking your country. Colonizers never act from benevolent motives; even if they happened to agree with you until now.

@DrALJONES Here in my bit of Norway there are few banks left that have branches that you can walk into. There are no cheques that you can cash.
My own bank does not have any bank branches at all.
I have posted a request for information that I have sent to the EU council on a short thread regarding the new proposed EU payment system.
