BUT 1943 Norway was fully controlled by the Wehrmacht.
So perhaps it wasn't entirely voluntary.

@andrewstroehlein At least he won that Nobel Prize in literature on merit. The merits of last year's winner of the Nobel Peace Prize are more questionable. If you didn't read any of Hamsun's works, you should. Hamsun's politics on the other hand was just like described.

@andrewstroehlein The Nobel Prize medals of Max von Laue and James Franck were dissolved in aqua regia in 1940 when the Nazis invaded Denmark. They should not get to seize them. The resulting orange fluid was not noticed, and the gold was extracted later and cast again by the Nobel Comittee in 1952.

@inquiline if the internet is good for anything, it is for stuff like this.
On another occasion I stumbled on a video of the best live show I've ever been to (Flaming Lips at the Abyss in Houston in 1996...the video doesn't do it justice, but it's nice to revisit the memory).
But, yeah, that would be an interesting thread. It's so rare to find something that was seemingly constructed in a lab to appeal to exactly me, that's been waiting decades for me to stumble on it.

Fra i giovani emerge un elemento rilevante per la democrazia: l’elevato livello di impegno civico. Quasi un giovane su due (47%) in Italia ha già partecipato ad azioni collettive, con una crescita molto marcata rispetto al 2023.
