You can absolutely get fucked sky-high, if I’ve turned this off and you build a custom UI to pester me any anyway.
@SecurityWriter I was having moisture problems in my crawlspace, hired a place to come out and do some repairs and install a sump. They did a great job, crawlspace is dry as a bone now.
But they asked me to leave a review on their Google maps page, and when I didn't, they called me repeatedly asking me to do so.
I tried explaining to them that I never leave reviews for any reason, but they kept pleading with me. I eventually resorted to blocking their number.
Apparently, this bullshit is spreading out into meatspace. We have really constructed a horrible place to live for ourselves.

@SecurityWriter Ha! Just happened to me too. Outlook invites you to send "internal feedback" if you say no, as opposed to leaving a five-star review if you say yes.

I need whoever greenlit these feedback boxes at Microsoft to understand: Nobody goes into their management consoles for shits and giggles. We go there because we have to. There is no "recommending" it to anyone.

Every time an app does that, I just give them a 1-star rating. If they care that much about the rating, they're getting the lowest one. -

@SecurityWriter @bitprophet no. It’s not a game, or Netflix, I’m just trying to order my groceries. I don’t need your app to be enjoyable, I just need it to be functional.
Worst of those of these are when the question is ‘please review the app’ and the options are ‘yes’ or ‘later’…

Nobody would use this application of their own free will. It’s only ever used because your workplace or bank or whatever puts it in the way of doing what you actually want to do. The best rating they can ever hope for is “inoffensive”. And interrupting me further to ask for a rating *makes it offensive*!

I have a policy. If an app asks me to leave a rating, they get the lowest possible rating.No exceptions.
Those tactic skews ratings and makes them completely useless as a means of telling if an app is worth using or not. I'm tired of it.

@SecurityWriter I pretty often take the time for a 1 star review for interrupting me especially since I have the iOS level switch to disable review requests, but apps use their own UI first etc…
@g @SecurityWriteri hate being prodded into being free labor for all these companies, i would not do it for a gift card so my default review is as low as i can go for everything when you prompt me cause fuck your scores forever

And while I know it’s a waste of my time, sometimes I provide feedback just as my tiny way of fighting back.

@nuintari @SecurityWriter unfortunately, in this timeline, the score on Google Maps can make or break a local business, so I can see where they're coming from.

An ocean scientist I know lost her federal government job this week. Canada should be scooping up American scientists left and right, not firing our scientists!! She works on carbon observation in the ocean, which is, you know, really fucking important. Everyone else who works on it on the west coast also got cut
Maybe a good time to reach out to your MPs and ask how the fuck we're supposed to be a world leader or whatever if federal scientists are fired and univerities are all drowning?
