@dysfun It is not perfect, but it's about as good as a general-purpose free OS gets.
Zorin OS is also good but the full version costs.
If all he needs is web access & stuff that can be done on the web (chat, calling, streaming) and he has a Gmail account, then ChromeOS Flex is easier, simpler, and more resilient... but you can't really run local apps.
