@blogdiva Tim Cook? I've followed him for years because I'm an Apple user. He's always been pretty vocal about being against Trump's policies. Not so much now because Trump could royally fuck up Apple's supply chain. They've been trying to do domestic production for years, and I think once they do that he'll tell Trump to go fuck himself because he can.

@Gargron but have you noticed how they are in every country of EU? well, they’re now in the largest legislative districts of USA and now Canada, Mexico, Brasil. i have never seen anything like this in all my years using the internet (just reckoned, it’s 42 years this year). so this *is* being coordinated at a global scale.
@blogdiva The age verification companies operate internationally. I imagine it's the same companies lobbying in the UK, Canada, Germany, and so on. It is impressive that they have the funding to lobby across the world like that, and it does seem sinister.

I love the piece Cory Doctorow wrote about RSS.
But I take exception to the idea that it's been dormant, or that Google made it work. The NYT did that. And there were lots of good if not great feed readers before Google.

And Google, by requiring titles, really mucked everything up. We're still paying the price, even though their product has been gone since 2013.
