@TCMuffin Yeah, it is probably the diplomatic way forward. It would be a very foolish party that said no IMO, particularly in this context.
Assume you have someone to do it if you decide to do it, but if not give me a shout, would happily give it a go.
Thank you, so much...we will 🙏

New Welsh movement aims to reclaim the social web with ‘pethau bychain’ digital campaign
A Welsh‑built social network is launching a new movement to reclaim the internet from global tech giants, urging people across Wales to take back control of how they connect online.
@TCMuffin Well done! This is great to see. Fine article, with a clear and inviting explanation of the Fediverse.
“The difference with Tŵt is that the people using the platform have a real say in how it’s run. Moderation isn’t outsourced or automated, it’s rooted in our shared values as a community. We’re accountable to each other, not to shareholders or algorithms.' 💚

@TCMuffin This is a great thing. Getting more people off the corporate platforms that are just out to monetise their user base is a laudable aim. At the risk of being a downer - how are you complying with the Online Safety Act?

Good question!
At the beginning of March 2005 toot.wales completed the Online Safety Act Illegal Harms Risk Assessment for Toot Wales and this is regularly reviewed for the effect of any changes in the regulations.

@TCMuffin Does this mean I can reclaim my celtic.co.uk email account from an ISP in Cardiff from 1997? 😉

Oh god…that’s a business from the past which was my ISP in the early 1990s!

@TCMuffin They were on Colchester Avenue from memory. I'm sure there are some NNTP newsgroup posts with my celtic email address on it. They were my ISP when I was at college (RWCMD) because we didn't have an Internet connection to the college at the time.

I think you’re right about Colchester Avenue…good memory 👍
I signed up with them as my ISP at home in 1993 because I wanted to support small local businesses.
From memory their ISP services cost ~£100 p.a. plus BT’s charge for the line and connected minutes 🤔

We based our assessment in line with OfCom’s guidance and with @neil who’s a UK lawyer specialising in technology…
