We took Frank and Erik to a car show on Sunday.

Got to the Italian section only to find this Lancia Stratos, my god.
This is a 1908 AC Tricar, the oldest one left in the world. A geologist used it at Broken Hill back in the early 1900's.
One cylinder, air cooled 640cc. 2 forward speeds, no reverse, Brakes are a contracting band on the rear wheel. That this is registrable is astounding.

This is a Lancia Lambda 15827. Fully repaired and restored in the twenty teens. Comes with a cocktail bar in rear.

This little Punto has lived in the sun too long, and its clearcoat was very sad.

Welp, time to modify my car to add a cocktail bar.

@stuart_j_whitmore it was the most hilarious detail of the car 😆

@vwdasher I know you guys do it a bit differently, but here as long as it meets the safety standards from when it was built you can still register it.
I doubt they were too strict in 1908. 😎

@mack505 there would be no Australian Design Rules covering it! I'd hope they wouldn't need to get a road worthy certificate, who would do it!

@vwdasher There ya go! If there are no rules, obviously it can’t violate them!

@brett isn't it just! Really a glorified bicycle, it's so basic. Not even a motorbike.

@vwdasher I haven’t seen one in the flesh since the late 1990s. They must look even smaller now.

@BitchinRob @vwdasher hang on, hang on, hang on.
A Stratos... with *air conditioning*? And *cruise control?* No, no, no. -

@BitchinRob @vwdasher nope, that's "factory." The 6 speed's also a hint. That's a kit car, not a legit Stratos.
(Well and also the real ones are all LHD.) -

@BitchinRob I reckon I can count sightings of one on one hand for me. They are not a big car. I am also amazed it's on standard registration, not club.
-
@BitchinRob @vwdasher honestly looks like a low quality kit car rather than an actual clone. Clearly not a Busso, looks like a MoTeC on a VW/Audi of some sort. Real clones use analog gauges.

The Italian section had an excellent turnout.
