    Di Luigi LengoIl sindaco di New York Zohran Mamdani non si è limitato a condannare l’omicidio della donna a Minneapolis e a denunciare i “raid crudeli e disumani” di Trump contro i migranti.Ha fatto di più. Ha appena annunciato che la sua città non sosterrà né collaborerà in alcun modo con l’Immigration and Customs Enforcement, meglio noto come ICE.Lo ha deciso dopo l’uccisione a sangue freddo della donna a Minneapolis e una quantità fuori scala di abusi, soprusi, violenze e rastrellamenti anticostituzionali della “polizia trumpiana” contro i migranti.Tradotto? La polizia di New York non aiuterà l’ICE, non condividerà dati e risorse, non contribuirà in nessun modo a quelle che sono ormai vere persecuzioni razziali.Revocati tutti gli ordini di collaborazione del precedente sindaco anche nel carcere di Rikers Island.“Quando gli agenti dell’ICE attaccano gli immigrati, stanno attaccando ognuno di noi, in tutto il Paese.Questa è una città che è e sarà sempre una città che difende gli immigrati, in tutti e cinque i distretti.Non siamo qui per assistere gli agenti dell’ICE nel loro lavoro. Can't have people walking around with pocket change because the bus is free, and a clear head because their kids are well taken care of. Who's working an extra twenty hours a week in those conditions?#Capitalism is built on capital but it thrives on misery.
