hi fedi!

@wffl The trickiest part was getting the wire to stay on the brim edge and sewing the crown onto the brim. I did cut extra fabric to go over the edge of the brim and glued it there. I think if I sewed it down with one small (as in straight probably a long stitch so it wouldn’t be too obvious) and then sewed the point on then the underside fabric.
@wffl because when you cut the hole for your head on the brim (don’t cut it as an oval just make cuts like a pie, it’ll give you something more to hold onto) you now have to fit the point into this hole, remember this is fabric just laid and glued on the brim form, there’s already a hole of that brim form.
If I were to do it again, I’d sew the point on first then sew the underside fabric (I basically did it all at once 😹) This is another reason why it’s a bit sloppy on the stitching 😹 -

It’s a piece of the same wire wedged into a “loose stitch” that extends into the brim and up into the point

@wffl having a small ribbon to “mask” any silly stitch work is always a good idea 😹 especially if it’s your first time making a hat 😹
(Let me know if you have any questions about the process 🩷😹) -
hi fedi! does anyone happen to know how to acquire a nice witch hat?
(i.e. people who sell them, would be willing to make them, or maybe even just instructions I can follow myself)
I desperately need a witch hat to complete my character, especially given the upcoming talks I'll be giving '
by "nice" I mean something that I could wear daily, something that brings joy, something that's well made, looks nice up close, and will last forever. (I can find a lot of bad hats, but what's the point...)
reposts are appreciated, mrrrow,,,
@wffl become a witch

@wffl Have you looked on Etsy?
@wffl@im-in.space @thepdog@mas.to ya do have to be careful there though. It's become another slop marketplace where they push out the good sellers in recent times

@wffl
There must be something magic about a hat made entirely out of dried cucumber, but maybe that's more druid than witch

@wffl I have purchased several beautiful ones from a milliner in the US called Evercrumbly and Witch. Absolutely love them!

@wffl If you don't get any better option, I've got this one : https://www.leonardo-carbone.com/witch-hat-agata-black
It doesn't really match your requirements, it's not a really high quality piece of clothing, but it's quite nice and comfortable (to begin with, it's actually made of wool) and, I think, a good value for price.
(The clothes from this site in general are rather cheaply made, I still occasionally shop on it because they're good enough for LARP and sometimes they do sales with really huge discounts. I recommend the hat because it is really a cut above the other stuff I bought from them.)

@JackMexa4 why would I?
Then no.

@wffl I had bought one from https://www.etsy.com/shop/CostureroReal?section_id=24554995 several years ago for my girlfriend (although the exact one I bought is not in the current list)
It was nice quality as far as I could tell: the felt was thick and it was keeping its shape nicely -
@n3tcat @wffl i have a small one from https://www.etsy.com/shop/BecsIndustryShop ! it's pretty nice though WILL blow off your head in high winds
i am wearing it in this post: https://tacobelllabs.net/@tris/112796945986550595 though the angle may not be the most helpful
