@aeva it's real for me though, yes, completely unclear how. traditionally i have a winter trough that starts around now and ends somewhere in february, but we do walks, vitamin D, and *mumbles* recreational stuff, so i like to think i have a better handle on it.
but also, i consider it an evolutionary trait that used to be of benefit: when days get shorter, retreat, spend less energy, avoid other people, get sick less, etc. there's tons of benefits at the small cost of... deep misery

@aeva mine has it too, even - if only so - slightly cheaper. question is where to put it... around my desk? then i should probably also put some plants there.

@lritter irrc, I got two sets. I have one set on top of a book shelf in my home office (smallish repurposed spare bedroom) such that they bounce the light off the ceiling. It makes the room very bright. I keep the other set handy to setup in other rooms when I spend a long time elsewhere such as time off from work. The important thing is to have most of the light hit you. I try to bounce them off something though because they've very bright and hurt my eyes to look at directly.

@lritter this is how I set up the auxiliary set last december when my wife got covid and we were hiding on opposite sides of the house. it did a lot to make the isolation bearable for me

@lritter to be fair modern astronomy also seems to be primarily concerned with virtual skies, but they're updated regularly to try to keep them in sync with the real cosmos

Feeling so so comfy daily driving OpenBSD of late that I've still not touched my FreeBSD ThinkPad. The only FreeBSD interaction I've had is with my servers in my homelab which I'm tempted to add some OpenBSD stuff in their too. It's been amazing as everything just works and yes I'm running current too with no Wayland. But that doesn't matter as I'm really liking HerbstluftWM.
Yes before you ask I have been tempted to deploy puffy on the ThinkPad but have so far resisted as the Dell Optiplex 3080 Tower on a i5-10505 is plenty quick enough.
