I have only seen the Stargate original movie.
Is the Stargate series just copaganda or copaganda adyacent?

After Yagami's father fake shoots Light as the last ditch attempt to force Light to confess he tells Light that, "I would have died here too."

Even though the first 6 episodes I was kinda lambaasting the whole show for being so melodramatic.
I never binge-watch anything. But today I binged half of the Death Note live action show. I had seen the anime but not this.

So you should consider, when reading it, that there will be some fantastical elements interspersed in the writing.

For the time the novel is from a big house/mansion would have had self shutting doors, either like being puertas de gold (self-slamming) or by having some pulley system that shuts the door.
The important thing is... you only open the door... and it closes on its own

It's more to control the natural movement of cows and whatnot than to provide security from intrusion.

But it is not so much a door but a gate. Which by the manner of it's construction slams (golpea) shut on its own if cattle/animals/people/vehicles were to pass through.
You can "slam" through and trust that it will slam shut. But this only happens in one way. Otherwise animals cannot get back out via the same gate.
Finished the Scott Pilgrim animated series. It wad mid. But, it makes me appreciate the movie even more. Scott is flawed and he knows it, and he shows it even more here.
