@afewbugs As someone without children and 80-some channels on the idiot box, I can’t imagine changing channels without a remote. “Boy! Channel 4!” still echoes in my brain.

how is the experience with #freebsd on a #server ? -
There’s another shooting in Minneapolis this morning involving ICE.@inthehands How do you tell when the Trump Administration is lying? Their lips are moving.

Is there a way to set recurring tasks (daily, every Wednesday etc) in #NextCloud tasks?@gumnos Yeah, part of this is getting away from the phone, as well as just getting away from Apple in general.

Is there a way to set recurring tasks (daily, every Wednesday etc) in #NextCloud tasks?@afewbugs @gumnos I’m planning to publish the source for the shop calendar, but first I need to get a web-server up and running, and I’m hoping to have iocaine running on it to keep AI scrapers at bay, as a preliminary experiment used a ton of bandwidth in a day of putting some (Markov-chain-babbly) source-code on a publicly accessible server. https://iocaine.madhouse-project.org/
So, a fairly typical yak-shaving expedition has ensued, because I would still like to have nice things.

Is there a way to set recurring tasks (daily, every Wednesday etc) in #NextCloud tasks?@afewbugs @gumnos I’m not sure that this will be our long-term solution, but it sounds close enough to right that I’m spending some time looking at it, since it will mesh nicely with the work I did on my shop calendar to remind me of the “big one-off tasks” in the shop, but which also displays the “glue” from our calendar, so I don’t lose track of when I’m supposed to haul the trash to the street for pickup. https://write.as/davepolaschek/a-calendar-for-the-shop

Is there a way to set recurring tasks (daily, every Wednesday etc) in #NextCloud tasks?@afewbugs I’m not a nextcloud dev, but Tim Chase ( @gumnos ) wrote a long article on how he uses remind to track “glue.” https://blog.thechases.com/posts/remind/
Since I’m (slowly) moving away from Apple products, and we currently use Apple’s calendar to track household glue (and other appointments), I’ve been looking at tools for moving events from remind to an iCal format calendar using rem2ics so my sweetie can keep using the calendar app on her phone, even if I switch the underlying household calendar.

Yesterday I lost a client.@stefano Sounds like an excellent opportunity to “fire” that client.

The Virtue of Finished Things@stefano Having software that’s “done,” doesn’t fit into any business plan people can think of. And yet it was always what I aspired to, as well.

Another morning working on the bowl.Called the bowl done today, after getting tired of the long cure times with Tried and True Varnish Oil and switching to Birchwood Casey TruOil gunstock finish on the outside. I think it came out looking pretty good. #WoodTurning #Resin

Finished putting together a table saw blade case.Finished putting together a table saw blade case. I don’t **switch** blades on the table saw very often, but I have enough different blades that moving them around and keeping them out of the way was becoming a problem. No more. It currently holds 6 blades, but I can easily add storage for 2 or 3 more if that’s needed. I’m pondering painting the MDF sides of the case, but haven’t decided on a color or design yet. #WoodWorking #Storage

Another morning working on the bowl.No photos today; when I inspected the bowl this morning, I figured it’s about as good as I’m going to get it, so I started applying some Tried & True Varnish Oil. Got the first coat on and buffed out, and now it has to sit until tomorrow before I can scuff it with 0000 steel wool, and apply another coat.
I also cut some live oak scraps into equilateral triangles. I’ll cut some similarly-sized walnut or bubinga triangles. Plan is a big hexagonal blank which will be part of a bigger project.

Another morning working on the bowl.Another morning working on the bowl. This morning was almost entirely card scraper work, though there was a little sandpaper for a few spots. Then a coat of 50-50 tung and orange oil. I’ll let that dry, give it another inspection and then on to the bulk of the finishing if all is well. More deets in the alt-text. #woodWorking #Finishing #FinishingPrep
