"I've found a lovely community of people."I've found a lovely community of people. I get my parasocial fix without being inundated by cryptogrifters shilling shitcoins, nor by thought-leaders posting inflammatory takes for clout. There are no disingenuous politicians and remarkably few celebrities trying to sell me their bathwater. There's no advertising. There's a great API for bots.
"But, just to be contrary, let's list some of the bad points about it."

π blog!@tychotithonus
It does - but I've found that I have to add each email address manually.
I can't have a gravatar of *@example.com -
π blog!@tychotithonus Gravatar works in a world where everyone only has one email address.
There's always a risk that a large organisation could add weird and proprietary extension.
-
π blog!@db I agree that people shouldn't hotlink the images.
But as for logs, the domain serving your avatar already knows your address and should already restrict sensitive logging.
-
π blog!@db Not really. You've given your email address to the service - so they know it.
-
π blog!@emily_s That's a reasonable point.
For a static site with only one user, you can just save a .jpg as `avatar` (without the file extension and it'll be served up.

I've gotten sufficiently annoyed with a trivial problem that I'm preparing to write an IETF RFC. Yeah. That's how ticked off I am!

Woman on the tube has a phone in each handWoman on the tube has a phone in each hand.
Right hand has an email from her boss.
Let hand has ChatGPT.
She scrolls the e-mail into view, then has ChatGPT take a photo of it.
She gives the LLM a prompt, waits for the answer, and then thumb-types it into a reply.I'm on my way to the #AIforTheRestOfUs conference. Didn't expect such an early demonstration!
