@Edent what's so bad about <div> ... or: Why do you want to avoid them?

@Edent Reminds me of what @arya wrote on Framework/DDH that you shared, specifically the Hyprland bit.
That change is hard, but change in rep is harder. Stack isn’t horrible in the protected characteristics sense, but can be horrible in the fresh meat sense. Even if Stack were to change, I don’t think I would go there were I 20 years younger and not battle hardened on BBS, Usenet, and general age/cynicism.

@losttourist @Edent LLMs can also point you in a direction. It may not be the right direction but at least it's a direction... if you don't know the question you need to ask then they can help you form that question.

One guard always tells the truth.
The other guard always lies.The third guard likes big butts, and he cannot lie

@eivindmork Yes, the obsequious nature is a part of the US culture which I'll never get used to.
@Edent @eivindmork My feeling about using LLM chatbots is that it is like having a genius level, eager to please 6 year old as an assistant. All knowledge, no experience.

@dan @losttourist @Edent A wrong answer helps to fix the wrong/imprecise question.

@Edent @eivindmork I like answers starting with "That's a great question!" when I know my question was bad. Because this immediately lowers my expectations of a great answer, and so lowers the risk of frustration when receiving a bad answer. This keeps me motivated to write a better question.

@Edent I can see the appeal for those who tinker but as someone who just wants a non-proprietary drop-in replacement for my very agèd Kindle with the dodgy USB port it would seem to have some pretty hefty downsides. Even with timestamping you could have faith in. 😀

@calmeilles There are dozens of Android based eInk devices. They seem to work pretty well.

@Edent I'm getting the "This Post cannot be displayed as you are not authorized to view it" message rather than the quoted post. Not sure if that's just me, and if it is just me, I don't know what I have to do to fix it!

@paul_j ask your admin to upgrade hackyderm to the latest version of Mastodon.
The quote post stuff is still new and your instance appears to be ~3 months out of date. -

@Edent Good bold manly colours! 🩷

@Edent Haha, funny name. In Czech "vole" is used in similar manner like "dude" was or like "bro" is nowadays.
-
@Edent oh that's awesome! 👍

@Edent also this! this is how you learn!
My start was a thin book that you typed in a "duck shoot" (I think it was) game page by page as you went through the book.
I wonder if that book's still in my parents house somewhere. 🤔
But also many magazine type ins too. -
