@afewbugs Yeah, I've seen the cycle a lot in transfem spaces and Black spaces and both. Build a space, maintain the space, others come in and complain the space isn't equal enough, burn out and leave the space to build a new one. Rinse repeat.

@tuban_muzuru @mekkaokereke @Chasteen It absolutely has to do with oil. But he didn't bother to actually listen to anyone who knows anything about the oil industry. And nobody in his orbit is going to push back on any of his foolish ideas. So Trump really does probably think Venezuela is just sitting on a trillion in oil reserves

I know, we should hire a group of people who write well to look through all the news, figure out which is real and not, and then write a few dozen "articles" in a paper about whatever is happening that's newsworthy. I think I'll call it papernews

Also, the local news is broken. So 10000000000 national and international news per minute, but I still end up surprised every damn time they bulldoze that thing I like which I would have gone and yelled at a city council meeting about.

The news keeps happening faster than any 25 people could ever keep up. Before you even come up with a coherent response to one bit of news, 200 more news has arrived.

There's too much news happening all the time. Could we maybe slow the news down to a few newspapers a day worth of news?

Related - if you're a guy who almost ALWAYS plays games as a woman when you get the chance, just consider for a moment, you could play the game of life as a woman if you want to. It's hard mode for sure, but it is way more fun if that's who you are.

Video games are objectively better when you can play as a woman.

I hate when leftists get into some bragging and shaming about suffering nonsense ... I had one once try and get on my case for literally just flying with my family to go have Christmas on a beach because they couldn't afford to fly and didn't have family. Like ... I'm sorry? But me making memories with the family I have isn't about you?

    Hey people with privilege,
It's okay to lean on your privilege from time to time.

Acknowledge your privilege, don't use it to harm others, but it's okay. Take a (non crazy extravagant) vacation. Buy some reasonably priced luxuries. Take advantage of the support your friends, family, class, career, whatever else offers you.

I see high speed rail as some combination of:

It sounds cool so some people will choose to ride it simply because of the cool factor

By having the infrastructure to support high speed says something about the passenger rail network itself, and is going to imply the high speed trains have right of way on the tracks

It expands the distance that it becomes as fast or faster to take the train over taking a plane. Trains are city center--> city center and no security, they are oftentimes faster than a plane for medium distance trips. By having high speed trains, it means there's even more distance before it becomes faster to take a plane.
