@munin It's really a gleaming light in the fuckery that somehow GAMES WORKSHOP of all organizations managed to land on the right side of this.

THE EMPEROR PROTECTS -
"Routine headcount reductions" is such a dystopian phrase.Granted, I have a really weird philosophy of enterprise. Even when I'm at my most pie-eyed scheming-and-dreaming apex, my highest ambition as Head Moron In Charge is always some flavour of "Quality product produced and everyone makes a living".
That's it. No "next year will always be bigger than last", no "market leader on thing", just... Idk, a business card to be proud of and a chicken in every pot.

It's why, though I've always dreamed of running a business, I know I'm exactly the sort of person that Big Capital would keep away from the levers of ownership.
To me, to my philosophy of enterprise, any time you dismiss someone for anything other than actual cause is a failure on your part as an owner.

Yesterday, I teased good news.Yesterday, I teased good news. So today, here it is.
From now until the end of the year (midnight EST on 12/31), I have marked down my books by 26% on Rakuten Kobo. Now you too can read the first two books of the Arcane Revolution trilogy, completely free of DRM, on the e-reader of your choosing.
The books are pulpy thriller-esque urban fantasy adventures pitting a veteran homicide investigator against a shadowy government spook for no lesser stakes than the ongoing freedom of humanity. In a nation still scarred by magical terrorism a decade previous, Agency Division is losing its ability to keep magic secret and controlled.
This is merely the first component of today's good news. If this sale goes well for me, it will help with the second piece. More to follow later in the day.

#WritersCoffeeClub for November 21:#WritersCoffeeClub for November 21:
What are some preconceptions about writers you'd like to see challenged?
There's a riptide in the public that we're largely obsolete, and that even if we weren't, we're complaining about not getting paid enough to "waste time".
I'd like those to go away.

Gods I cannot wait to get one of these into my hands and get to playing with it.@mos_8502 Really excited by - and envious of - your iteration velocity with this project.

Me, I do like books.
I don't like Amazon either.
So I've marked down the non-amazon prices of my books. And as an added bonus, the versions of the books purchased through any non-amazon vendor come without DRM.
They are about half-price (3.99 CAD)in e-Book form from Rakuten Kobo from midnight tonight until midnight tomorrow.

In his novel "Heir to the Empire", author Timothy Zhan introduced the idea of a "counterpart level encrypt": the idea that two droids or computer systems can get so interwoven that their traffic is uninterpretable outside each otherIn his novel "Heir to the Empire", author Timothy Zhan introduced the idea of a "counterpart level encrypt": the idea that two droids or computer systems can get so interwoven that their traffic is uninterpretable outside each other.
I think of that a lot when I think of phrases with unique meaning between my wife and I, like "hotted bag", "john mustard", "skimbleshanks" and "gotted"

Riffing on the last boost: If you don't understand that the problem with "tradwifing" isn't the aesthetics or even the desired lifestyle but the politics it bleeds into, you are insufficiently aware of nuance.Call me reductionist but the problem with fascists was the fascists, not the hugo boss uniforms and riding boots.
