Looking for recommendations for a service to send occasional e-mail to FediForum attendees. Requirements: can't break the bank (e.g. Mailchimp wants $45/month for >500 subscribers, which is not in the budget for one or two messages per month) and must send links without inserting tracking code.

@j12t I use Mailersend for website transactional emails, but I'm not sure how involved the integration would be in this case. It's free up too 500 emails monthly and paid tiers are very affordable (about $5/mo for 5000)

@j12t@j12t.social we're also in the market (of sorts) for a recommendation for email sending.
We've traditionally recommended Sendgrid to people because they had a (very) generous free tier, but that has since gone the way of the dodo.
Right now we recommend Mailgun but I am not sure of the specifics, we selected it simply because there exists a free tier.
We currently use SendGrid for our transactional emails.
The crappy part is that acting as a free MTA means people abuse your generosity. That's why these services aren't free. Sucks that bad actors ruin good things.

Maybe 20% of people who filled out this firm have said they want a DM.

i don't think anyone hears this, but i've been writing software and writing about it on my blog for the last couple of years.
it takes a while to reboot things. hope people don't just miss the internet, but will help bring it back.
