@DaveMWilburn @hrbrmstr chiefly, basic system info. disk, ram, cpu, network usage at a minimum, if its got hooks to showme postres stats, that would be rad, bonus points for it can show me rabbitmq stats.

i just need dashboard lights for my asm scanning platform so that when i do the big linkedin (urk) post announcing the promo and new pricing, and if i get a swell of new customers, i want to see that shit scale livebyobu is great for that, but no history
Ugh... I'm dating myself but the last time I dabbled with this I think Nagios and NtopNG were the typical open source solutions. Most of the modern advice I'm finding seems to be Prometheus/Grafana. Sorry!

@Viss LibreMNS collects data via snmpd and does the graphing.

@Viss I use grafana with the sqlite plugin/backend, works pretty well. In sqlite I have a table with a timestamp and the information I want to plot. Table is written by cron.

@h2onolan thats a good question - i have no idea. I need to build out some kinda monitoring/alerting system for orbital after this hetzner nonsense. i need to know the instant a scanning node goes away if some cloud host decides they dont ilke me anymore and doesnt say anything first.

@Viss I think we had a timeout and automatically reissued to the next node that asked - I like my sleep! (and if an occasional scan got done twice I didn't care)

@Viss fair - things were much more unreliable 20 years ago, things were always breaking!

@ridge and here i was holding out hope that they would see the light - too many nazis in the cryptobro investor crowd they got, i suppose. its nuts to me that their solve for handling that at the moderation level is "to label them" and nothing more

@nemeciii Trump's response to this is, of course, going to be to threaten Denmark and demand that they not do it, which is just going to encourage others to follow Denmark's lead.
The U.S. economy crashing is in my opinion the only thing that has any chance of propelling Trump out of office, so the sooner it happens the better.
I've already pulled nearly all my money out of the stock market.
