@nazokiyoubinbou @Viss Exactly

@h2onolan thats a good question - i have no idea. I need to build out some kinda monitoring/alerting system for orbital after this hetzner nonsense. i need to know the instant a scanning node goes away if some cloud host decides they dont ilke me anymore and doesnt say anything first.
-
@steely_glint @h2onolan this does the same, the nodes pull jobs off the queue, but if its mid-stream and vanishes, i would like to know

@Viss I think we had a timeout and automatically reissued to the next node that asked - I like my sleep! (and if an occasional scan got done twice I didn't care)

@steely_glint yeah, same here, but i would also like to understand why a node vanished, because there may be something to investigate

@Viss fair - things were much more unreliable 20 years ago, things were always breaking!
-
@hrbrmstr @DaveMWilburn yeah same. cacti for me
@Viss @hrbrmstr @DaveMWilburn I think my only experience with cacti is pwning it on HTB

@Viss Too late, I stopped using DDG search months ago because it kept jamming the AI back in over and over. I use Startpage now

@ridge and here i was holding out hope that they would see the light - too many nazis in the cryptobro investor crowd they got, i suppose. its nuts to me that their solve for handling that at the moderation level is "to label them" and nothing more

@Viss I know right? I was hoping for mostly the same thing.

@ridge there are some folks that left masto to go there, and it kinda makes me sad - its bananas they'd stay at bsky at this point, so im curious if or when they'll return
-
@Viss it’s almost like Bluesky is just Twitter but slightly different types of bad 🙃

@Viss Yeah seeing very technically oriented people (leftists no less) give up ActivityPub for BlueSky/ATP is just bonkers to me.
I know a lot of less-technical people go there because it's much easier and a lot of their favourite artists only post there, so that part I understand.
At least that's what I've observed with friends who use this style of social media. Even if the bridge exists, not everyone has it enabled and it's too much effort for them. -
@Viss @Popehat@mastodon.social @Popehat@counter.social @mmasnick blocking is much more effective there. ICE gonna find they’ll be shouting into a full piss bucket.
-
@Viss There's also @ap.brid.gy on bsky (it's @fed.brid.gy on Mastodon) also for those who are also on Bsky there are block lists that include all federal govt accounts -- one of those is the MAGA2 block list but there are others, again that's for bsky users if any dual users like me stumble upon this
