@SoftwareTheron i don't understand the question.
@evan@cosocial.ca @SoftwareTheron@mas.to Like why can you only do one or the other?

@sam @SoftwareTheron it doesn't say you can only do one or the other. It asks which is more important.

https://kolektiva.social/@justbob/115214609904161483@justbob That's pretty important, but it's not one of the two choices.

I know but it should be. If we wasn't totally ignored, I wouldn't have to be doing toots like this.

@justbob OK. Thanks for doing the good work.

Thanks everyone. I get a little twinge when I see people on social media reply to politicians with comments like, "Cool story, now release the Epstein files." I kind of wish that people maintained that single-minded focus on stopping the genocide in Gaza instead.

I understand that real people were really abused by Epstein, Maxwell, and their associates. At least some of the unnamed perpetrators in those files probably are continuing the same practices. Releasing those files really could stop ongoing harm.

I don't think it's easy or even humane to make a calculus of suffering. If it were me or someone I care about being abused by an unindicted Epstein associate, I would not give a fuuuuuuck about people starving and dying in faraway places. Nevertheless, there are 2M+ people in Gaza, hungry, homeless, and under attack. The scale of suffering seems higher.

So, I'm mostly stop the war. I feel like Gaza is where I will keep my personal focus, but I understand and support people working on the Epstein issue.

Oh, another motivating topic of this poll: the focus on the Epstein files in Congress. I know it's important, but I can't help feeling disappointed that this kind of effort isn't going into an arms embargo or recognizing Palestine.
