  • @lqdev@lqdev.me indeed, now I no longer see raw markdown 😁

  • Since I use custom markdown blocks for media posts, the raw markdown blocks were being rendered in Mastodon. That's now fixed and working as expected. Here's what that a media post (note with attachment) looks like.

I'm feeling really good about my implementation. I'll keep testing other post types but I'm feeling confident about deprovisioning my instance and moving entirely to my website soon.

  • @lqdev@lqdev.me hey, welcome to the Fediverse!

    Couple smol things...

When I try to resolve your post by URL, I get a Person back, whoops! Not sure why on NodeBB, I see raw markdown. Was going to inspect source.content, but see #1

  • I could use some help. I'm trying to make a list of all the websites that list ActivityPub 1) software 2) instances and whose content isn't too out of date. Here are some I know:

    https://fedidb.com
    https://fediverse.observer/stats
    https://the-federation.info
    https://delightful.coding.social

What else is there? Which is your go-to list?

  • I just wrapped up the MVP to [connect my website to the Fediverse by implementing a small subset of ActivityPub](/notes/website-now-natively-posts-to-the-fediverse-2026-01-22/). [Nostr](https://nostr.com/) is a protocol I've heard about but hadn't dipped my toes into, until today. I downloaded the [Amethyst client from F-Droid](https://amethyst.social/). The following are my off-the-cuff initial impressions of Nostr. ## The Good - Creating an account was easy. I just provided a username and was immediately taken to the feed. - The protocol seems simple. It's "just keys and events". In some ways, this simplifies account creation and enables building simple relays that are event / task-specific (search, outbox, DM). - Amethyst is preconfigured with a set of default relays so it solves the empty feed problem. You just create an account, pull up the global feed, and immediately start receiving posts. - Live video? Given Nostr stands for (Notes and Other Stuff Transmitted by Relays), live video is covered under other stuff. Still I was pleasantly surprised to see it. ## Not Ideal? - The global feed is chaos. It's like drinking from a fire hose. There's so many posts coming in all at once it's hard to keep track. - Tons of DeFi content. From what I've read, there's a large DeFi community presence on Nostr. Personally, I don't care for DeFi and Bitcoin content. Building a curated feed over time though should address this issue and reduce the amount of this content I see on my personal feed. Overall, I like what I'm seeing and curating my feed is relatively simple to do so I'm not constantly bombarded with posts from the global feed. 😔just like with ActivityPub and the Fediverse, I already know I'm going to end up running my own relay and start cross-posting content from my site to Nostr. It's just a matter of time. First I want to get my ActivityPub implementation in a more stable state where it manages itself and I can feel comfortable directing folks to subscribe to my Fediverse content through my website instead of the instance I'm currently running. Once that's done, I'll take the lessons and patterns from my ActivityPub implementation and build something similar for Nostr.

Grandiose day! However I haven’t read the book yet thou’. I spent my evening today building a automation by forking Tinker hack Blusky integration for running playlist etc. I am halfway there but when I run tested it – the last block doesn’t seem to work so I’ve contacted them about it. I hope soon to get help. This year I did lot of techie projects for myself like vibe coding built ways for me after taking course on ai and then vibecoding snake game and all of that. Later, doing html/css course to understand the basics and loving it all and then jamming up with neocities more. This year I also got excited with Nothing community project challenge – and built a marketing plan even the date was done and all. As I got to know late – being so inspired by the brand I went ahead and did something cool too. Nothing has cool software and hardware. The UI is cool as they say it. Got back to the ropes of smartphones as I grabbed Vivo iQOO Z10X as my daily driver – as they call it! I’ve since loved watching tech videos alot. I do love tech. I am not very much diving into fitness gadgets as of yet. As that would just tumble me down of anxiety passage I find.Well, the Founder of Mastodon is giving the next baton to new guy. Felix! Also, Eugen did a wonderful job with Mastodon. I saw his interview on YouTube while dinnering my way up through the day. I also read how a 101 year old Barista has been serving since WWII – that was the good news over bsky this morning. Also one 87 year old lady did something cool – which I don’t recall. You know we don’t care much to remember good news as we keep bad news itched in our brain for like whole time and all. Bad news is impactful is it? It creates fear and then that becomes memorable all of a sudden. Ah!

Hello #Fediverse and Happy New Year!I'd like to mark the start of 2025 with the first message from my self-hosted instance. You may already know me as @_elena@mastodon.social. Well, now I also run my own #ActivityPub microblogging server, thanks to the magic of #YunoHost and #GoToSocial (and #Phanpy, which I'm using to compose this).I registered this domain – aseachange.com – a looooong time ago but never did anything with it. It was the very first domain name I ever bought, even before securing elenarossini.com (!!!). It was so long ago, but I remember I was inspired by Beck's album Sea Change. seachange[dot]com was taken, so I grabbed Aseachange.I absolutely love its meaning of profound transformation and I think it's PERFECT for my self-hosted #Fediverse instance and what it represents: independence, empowerment and digital sovereignty.Ever since setting it up, I've been feeling joyful and hopeful. Everytime I look at myself in the mirror, I think: I'm in control of my own social media platform. And it feels SOOO GOOD.What do I have in store for 2025? I plan to use this account to post messages about #selfhosting, learning #Linux, privacy and digital sovereignty.I will also keep posting from my Mastodon account because you don't give a Lamborghini to someone who just passed their driver's license. I barely know what I'm doing here, so I feel a lot safer (for now) keeping my mastodon.social account as well... In case anything goes wrong here. Better safe than sorry! So, this is my #Introduction and if you've read as far as here I just want to thank the Fediverse for being so amazing and allowing me to connect with people on my own terms. And thank you Fedi people for being so generous and supportive with your superb advice and kind words. This is a really magical, special place.Happy New Year, everyone!
