So this is my new project: A solar powered website:
https://solar.stfn.pl/en/
The website is hosted on a Raspberry Pi Zero server running from solar panels and batteries, living in a shed in my field. The Internet access is done via an LTE modem.
I had a lot of fun building the whole system and then writing the site in the most basic, pure HTML.
However, even though the site is static HTML, it is presenting live data using my second new project: Pyriodic Backend, written in Python:

#solarpower #smallweb #smallwebseptember #solarpunk@stfn interesting! Super cool project
I need to dig into my drawers and repurpose some of the hardware I have, I think there's a Pi Zero laying around somewhere and at least one old laptop PC.
This will be my winter project

@stfn not necessarily solar powered but converting my old hardware to servers!
Solar power could come next, but I'd like to have some real balcony panels and all

@KevinGimbel making servers is always fun! Balcony solar sounds awesome, I've heard it is getting very popular in Germany and the Netherlands

@stfn I agree, I really like tinkering with servers and hardware, tho I've very limited knowledge of hardware.
And yes it is getting more popular, and I have one balcony with lots of sunlight so I'd really like to get into it - the initial invest is the only thing holding me back right now

@KevinGimbel How much would the initial invest be?

@stfn depends on the brand but around 2000-2500€ last time I checked, excluding setup costs if done professionally.
