Finally got around to reading this one and, it's not great. Mostly it's frustrating to see how the muddled logic and motivated reasoning of Yoshua Bengio & co make it hard for journalists to get and convey a clear understanding.

it might be able to cook up that idea, but only if some terrorist organization (or government whatever which is which these days) manages to get past all restrictions and gets an AI agent that (of course) doesn't "understand" it's all theoretical and not part of an apocalyptic novel, to combine all previous data. AIs don't think and don't see themselves as an entity. It's just programming and algorithms. I really don't understand why this is so hard for people to get. Jfc.

I've been using this exact distinction for a while now. Since Korean, my native language, has distinct terms for the system (<span lang="ko">ė°ķģ</span>), the point in time (<ruby lang="ko">åƦč”ę<rp>(</rp><rt>ģ¤ķ ģ</rt><rp>)</rp></ruby>), and the duration (<ruby lang="ko">åƦč”ęé<rp>(</rp><rt>ģ¤ķ ģź°</rt><rp>)</rp></ruby>), using a single spelling for all three in English always felt a bit blurry to me. This spelling convention helps bridge that gap and makes technical writing much more precise.
Personally, I find the meaning as indicated by Google's style guide the most clear, combined with an explicit case for hyphenation:
Runtime: use the system meaning. E.g. āthe runtime was updated last week,ā or āI'm using version 21 of the Java runtime.ā
Run-time: use the moment meaning, but only when used in the adjective position. E.g. ārun-time instrumentation is useful for finding bugs.ā
Run time: use the duration meaning. E.g. āthe run time was reduced by 5%,ā or āa run time of five minutes is unacceptable.ā In addition, when you want to use the moment meaning, but not as an adjective, this form should also be used. E.g. ātypechecking happens at run time in our implementation.ā

@stefano yes, and time will tell if trust can be restored, because position of the owners seems not that clear. Why did they put the @&ā¬@! at the leading position ? Would he have continued to put pressure on his own teams and have them leave ? Didnāt anybody detect a management crisis ? Didnāt they mesure the risks of having such leadership? Did they put him on purpose to reduce costs by having people quit the company? I knew people who were complete dictators, putting pressure on teams. I crossed their way, I felt their whip on my developer skin. With complete satisfaction from the top management. Having someone putting pressure being a very virile signal, it makes them absolutely happy. Power is a drug that often leads to a sadistic satisfaction of ruining peopleās life.
People reading this post will have their own exhibit to show to the jurors.
