@_elena @pfefferle Every time I open Facebook (which I do from time to time for family/friends updates and my townâs community page), I see so much AI slop in my feed. Itâs so offputting and thereâs really no way to get rid of it, since you donât control the algorithm in any way. Unfortunately it must be getting engagement from most FB users, otherwise they wouldnât keep ramping it up. But as you say Elena, itâs yet more motivation to increase time on the fediverse.

@pfefferle see, with an ad blocker on the other hand you get to see that two-thirds of YouTube are just AI slop as well nowadays đ¤ˇ

Sometimes I've found text hits in the raw HTML that are not displayed as the page is rendered.
E.g., alt text for images is not obviously visible until you hunt for it.
There are lots of other examples where text might be "hidden" as far as rendering, but findable in raw text search.

Hello web designers and developers, I have a question for you.
Consider a common situation. You press Ctrl-F to search for a string in the current web page, the browser returns a few results but, when you step through them, some results are not highlighted and are apparently nowhere to be seen on the page, or at least on the portion in view.
Why this behavior? Are there technical obstacles to highlighting arbitrary text on a page and adjusting the viewport to bring that text into view?
