In the end, Bluesky serves as another example for decentralization as a technological fetish. It is meaningless babble: neither decentralized in practice, nor offering the kinds of protections the rhetoric promises.
A social network worthy of its name must be grounded in community norms and practices that are negotiated _by_ the community. Anyone who buys into "protocols over platforms" without community governance at its core has been sold a bill of goods.

@eloquence I can understand people that don't want to build here on the Fediverse because of technical limitations of the protocol. But if *that*'s really the reason, and not an excuse for the social reasons, why not build over other open protocols with the same features as AT, but not controlled by Nazi-friendly cryptogrifters, like SSB or even something that is AP-compatible like the stuff developed by Mike MacGirvin?

I think I was also projecting in my parenthetical above about how a younger language designer is likely better equipped in some ways to weather wave after wave of corporate bullshit simply because the less far you've ever been from the endless deluge of liquid shit the more adapted you are to breath shit like you're some kind of mutant fish living and thriving in the sewers of nyc or perhaps lake michigan, even though it probably was implied.

The npm portal has revamped its user access tokens.
New tokens will have a default life of seven days (instead of 30), which can be updated to a maximum lifespan of 90 days (previously unlimited).
The changes are going live this month.
