Smarter and more transparent food ecosystem.
Our new AI-powered TraceMap tool will keep fraudulent and contaminated food off your local supermarketโs shelves.
By monitoring the agri-food supply chain in real-time, it will:
๐ซ Spot risks with improved screening accuracy
๐ฆ Track shipments in seconds to stop foodborne disease outbreaks
๐ Remove non-compliant products from the market fasterBetter data. Faster recalls. Safer meals.
Protecting you.

@EUCommission this means also stop importing products from countries with less restrictions on the farmers? or we will still import shit from other countries without any verification?

@witchescauldron @EUCommission
So how do you think it was 'funded'?
It seems like a good idea to me and in principle, a good way to use AI.

@EUCommission Why would you use AI as a marketing feature, it makes the product look worse, at least here on Mastodon

No it won't. Last year, you have publicly committed to sacrificing our protection:
ยปRecognizing the importance of continued engagement to resolve longstanding concerns, the European Union and the United States commit to work together to address non-tariff barriers affecting trade in food and agricultural products, including streamlining requirements for sanitary certificates for pork and dairy products.ยซ (emphasis added)
Happy "streamlining", i.e., submission to #US #food "standards", and installing the rotten bullshitter called "AI" in the food inspection chain!

in this case, the bullshit buzzword "AI-powered" means "running data through a statistical model"... which is utter bullshit for this use case, results in wasted false positives and untrustworthy false negatives and just makes everything shittier -

I'd say, labeling something as "AI" doesn't necessarily mean it's actively funneling money towards LLM bullshit... but we've seen the bullshit EU states are willing to do for the sake of corruption -

This is embarrassing. Read the room. Not many people on the Fediverse are going to be impressed by "AI powered." On the contrary, by putting LLMs into the mix, you guarantee that the results will be unreliable, as well as damaging to the environment. -

from all that I can find, this tool is primarily "AI" as in "statistical analysis", one of the many past use cases where this buzzword label used to be applied. But the intention for the marketing is clear: "AI" is a popular bullshit buzzword, so let's ride the hype wave. This use case isn't much less shitty than your usual slop machines though -

@EUCommission Hopefully we had to wait the IA-God to save us from laxative food. We're blessed now ! I guess humans were not sapiens enough to do this.

and don't get me wrong, statistical analysis can be powerful and a great tool in research and for low-risk and redundant applications, but food safety is NOT low-risk! -

The AI seems like a good use case to me, because trying to follow this stuff manually, is massively complex and requires huge levels of policing. Sort of like the major problem of uncovering the money-launderers. Police don't have the funds to spend the time following the money.

The #EU account ONLY pushes stuff they fund... but can't be bothered to click through to check was hoping to crowed source that info as a part of composting.
If we don't get a group of people to actively compost this #techshit we are not getting anywhere.
I leave space in all my work, so people can fill it #KISS

@gsymon @witchescauldron @EUCommission
It's an EU project. It's literally commissioned by the EU. It's EU-funded.
