Lemmy should support multiple default languages for posting and viewing

Right now, Lemmy only lets you pick one language to see and forces you to manually choose a language every time you post. Because of that, most posts end up marked as “undetermined,” so filtering by language hides most content.
It would make more sense if:
- You could set multiple preferred languages to view posts and comments.
- You could set a default posting language instead of picking it every time.
- The initial language settings were auto-filled based on browser or system language.
This would make the language functionality much more useful.

Correct me if I'm wrong but you can select multiple viewing languages. It's just slightly unintuitive in lemmy-ui: hold either CTRL or SHIFT (I forgot, apologies) while you select languages in your profile settings.
The default posting language/allowed languages are decided on community level by mods.
Edit: didn't want to just say unintuitive without offering an alternative, so: visible checkboxes would maybe be more intuitive?

@bryan thank you Bryan. The backup size issue isn't about costs... I have zero extra expenses. It's just that I would like to keep backup sizes relatively small in case I need to do a restore.
AWS, Digital Ocean, Google Cloud and Cloudflare are all American companies... I want to keep my tech stack European.
I'm very very happy with Hetzner, Hostinger, BunnyCDN and Varnish Cache 🤗

Osservarlo a Valle Gran Rey, a La Gomera, è così bello che ogni sera si radunano tante persone che si schierano sulla spiaggia per ammirarlo, come se fosse uno spettacolo. Ma in effetti lo è.
