So, I built my own #hourglass “web app” because I couldn't find a decent one.

There's presently only a small aesthetic bug because of the way I'm realizing the “hourglass” figure via pure #CSS, but that's something I will fix after coming back from the rally against the Gaza genocide we're having here in Italy.

I think my next improvement will be to add audio to it. I'm thinking single beeps for the last 10 seconds and then a truck horn when the time runs out.

@oblomov It seems too fast on both my pc and my phone. The 180s timer took around 20 seconds to end.

It reminded of the time I broke every record I made on Moto Racer after changing the screen resolution 😁

@sparkit it is too fast. I'm trying to understand why. It's unexpected because I'm firing JS setTimeout()s every 40ms and subtracting that from the timer, and it's known that setTimeout() can fire *later*, so either I'm doing something very wrong in the JS or the timer is firing too often. I probably should rely on some smarter (and more accurate) timing system.

Wife isn't too happy about the choice of the horn for the end-of-timer sound, for her the hourglass makes her think of @jmechner's Prince of Persia so she would prefer something like the first beats of the PoP intro sounds to play. The heartbeat for the last 10 seconds could also be an idea. But obviously those sounds are copyrighted so I have to find free alternatives (preferably under CC0 or similar free culture license).

“Acoustic” update on the #hourglass timer: now the last 10 seconds play a heartbeat, and the end-of-timer sound is some breaking glass. Moderately happy with the results, I dislike that the hearbeat is not as regular as I would expect it to be.
