@benjistokman @hipsterelectron here's a diagram of what I had in mind. I found a random unmangled screenshot from google, zoomed it way up with the GNU Imp's default upsampling (bicubic or something like that) which blurs the crap out of the image, and then I saved it as a jpg with a good amount of fry. In this diagram I've spliced in the unmangled image, and drew cyan dots where the pixel centers were

@benjistokman @hipsterelectron and you'll want to do a weighted average, since the color is mostly close to the original near the center of those dots but jpeg finds a way
