I wonder if you could use lint as insulation.

I think the best way to fight RTO is to submit accommodations requests for ergonomics.
Tell your doc you have back pain. Get a doctor's note. If you're in a jurisdiction with accommodation legislation, you should be able to get your own desk fitted to you.
Now get all your coworkers to do this. No more hot desking, and the costs of an office goes up.
