Thanks for the write up. I could identify with the story. Italy must have been ahead of the time in terms of corporal punishment. Corporal punishment in our country was normal even well into the early 2000's.

I read some references here and there to #Severance from Apple but I never cared much.
I've now watched both seasons, and it's not good, it's fantastic. The filming and acting is top notch, the dialogs are all good, there's no banality, the developments are thoughtful.
A bit too surreal and artsy at times for my taste, but overall 10/10.The season 2 finale is also a perfect ending imho, and absolutely does not need a season 3 (which will come next year anyway).
Watch it.
