@stefano maybe I will look crazy, but I am living that notifications are going just between client and server, so then nfty seems as redundant. I did some quick searching and I am amazed, unfortunately iOS require their APN no other way 😢

@napierge UnifiedPush provides encryption for notifications. For standard notifications sent via Google, there is no specification requiring them to be encrypted, meaning servers can send them unencrypted to Google, which then forwards them to the devices. In other words, in these cases Google can read them. Moreover, many people do not want or cannot use Google services (for example, those using GrapheneOS, etc.), and in such cases UnifiedPush makes even more sense. For Apple it’s even different, and the lack of true multitasking greatly limits its potential.
