Every evening, before going to sleep, I clean the coffee machine. It's a habit, almost a ritual. In a way, I remove the traces of the day that has passed, as a form of closure. On the other hand, I get everything ready for the next day, for waking up and the daily adventures.
Somehow, the coffee machine marks the passage of time, and cleaning it is a sort of anchor point.
@stefano what machine is this? I am using a Zuriga at home and am looking for a more economical one for the house in Umbria as a Bialetti just doesn't kick it for me…

@stefano I love these little parts of life.
-
@seiz correct!
-
@seiz I've had it for more than 5 years and it's doing great

@golemwire thank you. Those are little pieces of our daily lives and those make our life what it is
-
@seiz correct!
@stefano Great. Hopefully that machine will still be available next year when I am back in Italy.
I assume it also heats fast (my main reason from going from a big ECM to the Zuriga at Home), so it can be used like 5 Minutes after switching it on?

I have known them all, already,
Known them all;
Have known the evenings, mornings, afternoons,
I have measured out my life with coffee spoonsTS Eliot had your number, Stefano.

@stefano it's interesting to me that what in Scandinavia is an espresso machine is just a "coffee machine" in Italy. Here's what one might think of up here ☕
For espresso, I use an EspressoGC from https://rok.coffee/ -- it's more work since you grind coffee and boil water yourself, but the minimalism and "will last forever"-feeling might interest you, and I personally enjoy the ritual.

@stefano starting a new day. I've got a Gaggia too but switched to ECM because it's faster.

@linus yes, in Italy coffee == "espresso" || coffee == "moka"
I wasn't aware of the EspressoGC, it's a nice idea! -

@seiz it's been available for many years, it's a classic one so I guess you'll find it. It's ready in more or less one minute and it's enough for a decent, home made espresso

@jan wow, this is so professional!
