    Yesterday I've tried #FreeBSD on a decent laptop again. I prefer Gnome/GDM over Plasma so just went by the handbook tutorial. Based on my findings, GDM is broken for 6 months on #FreeBSD and nobody cares, despite the budget of $750,000 allocated in Q4 2025 to the "Laptop Support and Usability Improvements Project". UPDATE: KDE has been voted FBSD community favourite.I will try to find a fix for GDM next week.     @battiato38 @eriol c'è da dire che spesse volte il problema passa da chi sviluppa / distribuisce (tipo EA con il suo ridicolo launcher, non so se hanno risolto nel frattempo) io credo che la machine nella loro idea dovrebbe funzionare come: - "console" da salotto perennemente in gaming mode - PC da smanettoni già abituati ad Arc, AUR, yay e cippalippa (che però verrebbe da chiedersi perché dovrebbero comprarsela e non farsi un assemblato, ma boh)

    Mentre tento di scrivere un articolo introduttivo su Git, sto sperimentando con Proxmox.La scalabilità del progetto è impressionante. Già in un piccolo homelab si possono semplificare operazioni complesse, per non parlare dei grandi datacenter.I container di Alpine Linux poi, con tanto di OpenRC in esecuzione, sono amorevoli.Una volta acquisita un po' più di consapevolezza in merito, ne riparleremo sicuramente!@linux #linux #unolinux #gnulinuxitalia #opensource #homelab #proxmox #git

    I asked Windows 10 users what they were planning to do as Windows 10 stops getting free updates. The answers may surprise you. Only 9% plan to move to Windows 11. 1% plan to pay for updates. 22% want to keep using Windows 10, even without security updates. 61% plan to switch to Linux. 6% plan something else.Obviously this is a survey done here in the Fediverse, but this is quite interesting and could mean more users coming to Linux, which IMHO is a good thing.I just made the switch and I am quite happy with it. At the same time I always look for improvements and issues to resolve. It is kind of in my blood.#Windows #Microsoft #Linux #AI
