I haven't had the chance to try them yet but my likely next laptop will be from @starlabssystems
They are not open hardware (I think) but do sell a large number of replacement parts which makes me hopeful🤞

I have their 12" tablet, and I'm very happy both with the tablet and their support.

@seindal @tyrthecat @h3artbl33d @starlabssystems @NebulaTide I had a look at that 12" tablet is quite interesting. I've an old iPad Pro with the Magic Keyboard and it's a perfect "small laptop", but this looks even better

If you order something for delivery to Italy, could I sneak some accessories into the order, which gets too expensive if I order them alone?
It's the tempered glass, and the protective case.

@seindal @starlabssystems sure - but I'm not ordering, for now. I'm just taking notes for my next laptop or tablet 😉

The major downside of OpenBSD on Apple Silicon is that there is no graphical acceleration (even 360p video playback is troublesome). It does make one hefty SSH machine with a sick battery life - but for daily desktop use it might be a mismatch with your scenario.
I recently learned that Framework is now funding alt-right and facist open source software.
So that leaves us with? System76?
@h3artbl33d and refurbished Lenovo 🤔

Optionally: get them through Minifree, preinstalled with Libreboot and funds the further development.

In Zagreb, I realized my 2021 MacBook Pro M1 is starting to show its age. The battery life is shorter and the system seems slower than it was at the beginning, perhaps also due to the latest OS version. Yesterday, I used the "new" Acer with openSUSE Tumbleweed, running KDE Plasma. It's small, I paid about 500 euros for it, and it has a good monitor, but the battery life is poor, and that's the main reason I still primarily use the Mac. And yet, it gave me a greater sense of speed than the Mac. When one of the BSDs works well enough on this laptop (mainly suspend/resume), it will probably become my daily driver on the go. I need to try OpenBSD 7.8 as soon as it will be out.
it might have some surprises in store for me.@stefano have you considered Asahi? it should run on M1 and KDE is the default on Fedora Asahi Remix. Or are you keen on BSD?

@sumek I'd use one of the BSDs, if possible (and OpenBSD is supported). But Linux is fine, too. But also MacOS is fine, for me.
