The building manager contacted me. He'll send an email reminding everyone not to flush things down the toilet.
I asked him to contact the residents involved directly - since only a few apartments share that specific sewage line - but he refused, saying he "can't accuse anyone". I'm not trying to accuse anyone. I just want everyone informed about what happened so they can be more careful.
Anyway, let's wait and see. The insurance should cover the damage (how exactly is still unknown), but it’s not certain since it was caused by misuse.
I'll try to get things sorted in the coming days.
All I want is to avoid another #Crapturday like yesterday!
@stefano totally gross but could work: a public display of what clogged the drain (in the hallway?), like a moodboard of things that don’t belong in a toilet.

@stefano That building manager isn't owning up to the situation unfortunately and letting you down. He/she shouldn't send emails, but go up there, knock on all doors, explain and clarify and later send an email confirming everything. Pfff. Hope your Sunday will be a #Betterday !

@patpro This could be a good idea. I'll try to implement it 🙂

@thesaigoneer That's what I'm asking for. If he's not going to do it, I'll go to the office in the coming days and intercept all the people that I see, coming out from that specific building door.

@stefano Absolutely. It's not accusing; this way no one will know what damage and inconvenience they have caused. And, to stay positive, there's no urgency now for them to adjust any behavior. It's just an email to delete.

@thesaigoneer Yes - I'll stay positive, as I always do.

@stefano So sorry you had to go through that shit.
(Pun intended, but also a heartfelt sorry) -

@stefano also, a backwater valve could be of some use here, a plumber could probably tell if one can be added somewhere to protect your office.

@stefano
Fortunately, such damage is the only thing that insurance cover without any discussion. -
