I fear you can make something extremely bad and also keep it running and even add features if you don't actually care how anything comes out/whether the things you put in do what you actually intend them to do/whether it's safe or easy to use.

@tess @aeva Yeah, I don't know if it's gonna go down in flames entirely any time soon, but I wouldn't be at all surprised by an announcement in the summer or fall or something that, oops, all DMs were readable by any user who made the appropriate API calls for most of 2026, sorry about that. Or similar.

I'd wager it's past the point of truly 'crashing' out of existence within our lifetimes as, even if it ever DOES tank hard, I could easily imagine a small-but-dedicated group of BSky devotees moving mountains to keep it afloat - a la Tumblr.
Either that or some wealthy scavenger(s) buy it out at a low point to remake in their image - a la Twitter.

@stefano Could be a depiction of my mother, my two grandmothers and so many of the women around me in my youth. A time capsule artifact containing nice things and also many “crimes” when the life of this chickens or ducks had to come to an end. Violent images and the need to run far away from the scene at this moment.
So was countryside life. Silent and peaceful often, yet cruel at times.

@cwebber From what I can see, and through the connections I share, they're an IT consultancy that focuses on data analysis & visualization, particularly for defense and law enforcement. The people crossover points towards the kind of business I would have avoided working for back when that was my stomping ground... Not quite Palantir-level, but leaning in that direction, it seems.
These firms seem to like ruining good words & literature references.
