Man I hate designing for kb+mouse and gamepad at the same time. Not only is it super limiting in what you can do but you always constantly gotta wonder like
Do I make a pointy hand that points at GUI elements? And then mousing over an element positions the pointy hand? Or do I make a mouse pointer and then selecting a GUI element with gamepad moves that mouse pointer somewhere over the element?
Or do I increase my workload by an order of magnitude and have a separate path for both

But like, it's 2025. Even if you're not porting to consoles you can't just ignore gamepads. There's the Steam Deck for one, and lots of people use gamepads on PC now because RSI means they basically cannot play your game with kb+mouse

@eniko@mastodon.gamedev.place then there's idiots like me. when i play celeste, i hold a controller in one hand and use the keyboard with my other hand
