@aeva perfect is amazing when you can get it though. i'm sure there is a way. i'll figure it out.
citronella candles, some spray... or both. that could be enough. a blanket. some wine. a lamp that glows like a candle. wait i have the citronella already. need to put it in a wind protector. that will do.

@SnoopJ @mia there was a big prairie and forest near the campus back when I was in college, and there were paths so it wasn't particularly untamed, and I went in the forest all the time during the day but one time I tried to go there in the middle of the night and like I couldn't my limbs would not move and I was frozen in terror by the inky black wall that blocked the precipice and I could feel it staring back at me with 10,000 unseen eyes. I was also really drunk but that's probably unrelated

@aeva best place for this I've found so far is the beach at night. At least at the great lakes on a calm day.
You can stand there and stare into a nearly featureless void and gradually see the stars pop into view as your eyes adjust to the darkness.
I'm betting the prairies, the (ant)arctic and the desert would all be good places for this too.

@oblomov I find when I am downtown looking skyward while standing on the sidewalk, the effect is enhanced by the skyscrapers because it emphasizes just how much empty space roads create. I imagine the effect can be experienced anywhere that has been sufficiently destroyed by automobile culture.

A noi hanno detto che non hanno assicurazioni per atti vandalici, non so se è vero ma ritengo di sì.
Il fatto che lo lascino così: in realtà ci hanno detto che lo sistemeranno, ma hanno chiarito che non rientra nei piani di spesa 2026 e 2027, quindi si parla SE TUTTO VA BENE, che lo mettono in lista nel 2028...

Obsolete secret infrastructure like CARTWHEEL tower, only revealed decades later, intrigues me not just for its scale and design, but also for the obvious question it gives rise to. If this stuff effectively managed to stay unnoticed for decades, what newer secrets are hiding under our noses today?
