Do you celebrate March 14 as Pi Day?
-
@evan What I celebrate is any excuse to eat pie
-
@evan Mostly to point out tau > pi
-
@evan No, because in the rest of the world the month comes after the day. I know there is no 31 April, but still, celebrating it on 14/3 would feel weird.
-
@evan Yes, but ... 22/7 is a better approximation, and month-first dates are not common worldwide.
-
@evan I celebrate it 31.4.
No wait.
-
@evan in all seriousness though I demand photographic proof from those who “celebrate”. I need to see party hats and blowers, balloons, rented bouncy castles and clowns, etc. I do not subscribe to the idea that ordering a pizza and having some lemon meringue for dessert constitutes “celebration”. That’s just a dressed-up Tuesday night in my books.

@jamie people celebrate how they celebrate.
-
@evan Yes, but the pie should be eaten at 1:59:26. PM, 'cause I ain't getting up that early.
-
@evan
We write the date as 14.3. so it looks weird to connect it to π. -
@evan but we're not like those weirdos celebrating tau day on 6.28
-
I voted yes because I do celebrate; but I consider March 14 to be Lesser Pi Day. July 22 is Greater Pi Day, since 22/7 approximates pi to three decimal places better than 3.14 does.
