Is there a way to set recurring tasks (daily, every Wednesday etc) in #NextCloud tasks?

@afewbugs As someone who struggles with doing things on a schedule, IMO there's a sub-type of the second - the tasks that need to be done some amount of time after they were *last* done, whether or not that actually matched the schedule. I want to push a button to indicate that the sheets have in fact been changed, and the next reminder should be X weeks after that date, not end up at odds with the calender because they actually got changed 3 days after the reminder and the skew just keeps accumulating. I don't think I've ever seen this option in any scheduling software.

@vfrmedia @emily_s @afewbugs If you compare to a client for the Exchange Server, you should compare with a client for Nextcloud. There is no UI for the underlaying Exchange Server. Therefore you should compare to a client like Thunderbird. There is no problem with recurring taskes generated in Thunderbird. They are syncronized with Nextcloud and other clients. Even the Tasks app for Android is capable generating recurring tasks. It is "just" Nextcloud's web UI which does not support it.

@afewbugs The question is not just the implementation: If you mark a task as done or set the progress, what do you expect with recurring tasks? Reset to zero? Should the already started task be thrown away/removed and started from scratch? How to handle updates of other data?
Just my 50ct. PS: I am considering starting an app that might fit your need but this is a different story.

@christianlupus From my perspective the way Todoist does it works very well, you mark the task as completed and it reappears the next day/in whatever interval you set it to reappear

@mandarvaze It's not a joke. There are some chores I can't keep track of without reminders, when you can't see whether the thing needs doing or has been done (giving someone meds or taking them yourself for example) is something I find helpful to mark off, or things that don't happen every day (change the sheets every seven days, send the meter reading the first working day of the month)

@afewbugs @ljrk my S/O uses Todoist **extensively** and I must say I understand why she picked it. We're both selfhosters and avid FLOSS users, but there's nothing quite like Todoist.

Also: yes, recurring tasks and mental load. As a divorced dad (and single for a long time), +9000 on your original thread and points wrt gender. Life handed me firsthand learning experiences (massive understatement) on that topic.

@kate @afewbugs if it helps you can create a recurring task in jtx Board and set it up as you wish. You can then click on "detach all instances", this would take all recurrences and make standalone entries out of them. These entries should then also show up in Nextcloud. However, keep in mind that the series is gone and you can't update all instances in one go anymore.

It had a recessed light well in the roof with a glass skylight at the bottom. The problem was there was no outlet pipe at the bottom of the light well, so when it rained it filled up with water like a huge suspended swimming pool

@suearcher @kitten_tech this was obviously a somewhat alarming state of affairs for those who had to work underneath it, trusting the strength of the glass, so it was drained and a sort of greenhouse like contraption built over the top to prevent it from refilling.
